I have a buddy that moved about 2 hours away call me yesterday and told me his neighbor wants to sell a 360 4 bolt main engine complete with factory 4 brl intake. I was on the phone with the guy try'n to get some #'s off the block and heads but he can't find them. He said the motor is stil wearing the factory blue paint. If I'm correct, the blue paint is 74' and up (?). He bought an Aspen R/T with this setup in it so he's kinda clueless being a chebby guy. Was there a 4 bolt main factory 360 motor? He is gonna try to get under it and get a pic but he's pushing to sell fast. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks in advance. 76' Volare, 5.9 magnum w/Iron heads. New best 10.68 at 123 mph 1/4 mile.

The 340 T/A block had them but that was a 1 year only. The 340 T/A block had 2 bolt mains also but had thicker cast main webs to allow for drilling and tapping for the addition of 4 bolt main caps. The over the counter X and R blocks were available with 4 bolt mains. Actually I don't remember off hand if the X block was drilled or had to be drilled after purchase. I came across a cross bolted 426 wedge block in a guy's garage once. I think it was a left over NASCAR block that somehow ended up in his hands. But that kind of stuff hardly ever happens.

He bought it from a friend of his that had it in a pick-up truck. He also told me it ran 10's at the track (stock converter too) but his a/c compressor was blocking the front of the motor and couldn't see what was there. copchaser super stock Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 898 iowa	four years ago I bought a 360 with a 8 bolt crank, 4 bolt mains. I dropped in in a 79 Lebaron and sold it. The guy wrecked it 3 days later, and it's still sitting in the junk yard.
