I did a '65 273 by changing to a Comp hydraulic cam and kit and using later 318 LA pushrods, and rocker setup. Works just fine.

IIRC 67 273 is non adjustable rockers and hydro lifters
the 64 is solid lifter cup and ball push rods adjustable rockers
could have a steel crank in both
64 may have closed chamberd heads with small valves
I think 65 is the oddball intake bolt pattern on the 273..1 yr only

67 was still solid. 273 went to hyd cam starting in 68. Also, the Isky E4 is a good grind for the 273.

There was a 273 Super command i think they called it from the factory .500 lift solid cam and a 750 holley very rare however

http://www.iskycams.com/onlinecatalog.htmlHere's a good 273 combo. Run a CR of 9.1 to 9.5 E4 Isky solid Cam Find a set of 920 casting heads (66-67). They flow the best. They flow better running a stainless 1.88 intake valve cut down to 1.82. That way there's no shrouding. If you can't find that casting 302's are a good alternative. Run a Edelbrock LD4B and a Carter 625. Of course a good ignition and exhaust. 273's make power as long as the RPMs are up. 273's like a lot of gear. For a street A body with a 273 3.91's are a good start.
