well just got home from my frist time at the track. i made 4.5 passes. I wish my car would of went faster. but i did come close to my goal for my street/strip dart. so all in all i am happy with the car. ok on to the good. I finaly get to say i allmost have a mid ten second street car. here is the info from the pass i made. 60 FT 1.5479 330-4.4357 1/8-6.8723 1/8 mph-100.74 1000 et 8.9938 1000 mph 114.68 1/4-10.6859 1/4-124.58 so what do you guys think about this e/t? i did not get to do any tunning because on the 5 pass something let go in my rearend.I thought i had a 5100 stall but at the track it seemed like the converter was only flash stalling around 4600.I shifted at 7000 and went through the end at 65-6600 rpm.I might have a topend fuel problem? because in frist and second it would pull to 7000 like it was nothing but once i was in thired it felt like it was done after 6500 rpm. i hope to get some more out of the car with some tunnning. but i am not racing the car again untill i get a roll bar/cage put in the car. so how did i do my frist time out with a new car? also what ever i did to the rearend it is bad enough that when when we was pushing it off the track etc the rearend would lock up. I have a 30 spline full spool. so what do you think i broke? man i can wate for winter to get over so i can go back out there. thanks Bobby

Congrats
I'ld say you have a mid 10 sec car for sure.
60' seems a little soft though
Sorry to hear about your rear
If I had to take a guess I'ld say it was your ring and pinion

thanks bill. Yes i was really happy the engine or transmission did not go boom. i also thought the 60 foot was a little soft. is it because of the big 270 cc ports of the indy ez heads? so do you think this is a good time for a 3400-3500 pound A-body which really needs to go on a dieat. But lucky me i do have a brand new set of 4.10 gears to put in the car. I dont know if this matters but i did out run my friends 70 monty carlo that has a stroker 383 chevy in his car. I beat him about 4 car leagnths and he said his car made 505 hp at the rear wheels. when i get the car fixed looks like i have a lot of tunning to do. also i might of gotten my 10.50 pass if my buddy ramcharger would of went with me. he ways about 100 pounds less than i do. man i am not even mad that i broke the rearend. it felt like it was going to be a great pass untill about 40 feet out the rear went boom.lol

We've told you this before. That car needs a Dana or well built 9". I wont be surprised if you break another R&P in short order. Dont forget to pull the trans, it might be broke too.

yes you are right and you are going to have to keep me in check. I mean keep me from trying to make this a race only car again lol.
Somebody needs to keep an eye on you!

man you should of see the 65 malabu that a guy had there, it had some kind of big block with a procharger on it. when i left he could still not get it to hook. he was braking the tires loose at the 1000 foot mark man i bet that was a scary ride.lol
It's beyond me why anyone would do that. It's just asking to crash. IMO, if the tires spin much at all, the run is a wash anyway. Why risk parts breakage or worse, crashing the car.

yes i will be pulling the the trans this spring and have a look see. i understand what you are saying and i might install one next year if i can come up with the money. but the weared thing is i had a 3500 pound 65 plymouth that would run 1.41 60 foot times and i never broke the 8-3/4 in it and it had a lot of passes on it.like i said i am not trying to argue with you. well i am done racing the car untill i put a cage in it. so in the mean time i am going to fix the 8-3/4 untill i can save up the money to do the dana.

I agree i think he might of gave up because it looks like he might of been putting it back in the trailer when i left. hey do you remember the last time you raced my 65 and raced a yellow coup from saint james? well he was there again and really steped up the engine. he had a stroker small block chevy with a nos foger system on it. the guy i beat said the small block dynoed around 700 hp and 1100 with the nos. i saw it runa 9.60 pass but do not know if that was with the nos or not. well any way i know wear i can get a truck dana for 100 bucks. want to start building a dana for the car?

Bobby, looks like you might be having traction problems too, i'm sure it spun on the 1st. pass for sure. Your also really picking up on the last 660 on each run, so you may want to try lowering the shift points if your trapping lower then where your shifting, if it slows with a lower shift point then you can use a steeper gear, you normally want to trap 2-300 RPMs over the shift points, not below it.
Sorry your 8.3/4 bit the dust, i'm sure there was something going out because it should easily be able to handle 1.5s 60fts. for a long time in a light car.
