I have a 1972 440 with a mopar transistorized ignition. The distributor looks like one from a car that has points. It has a vacuum advance which doesn't seem to do much when you run a vacuum line to it. Is it normal to not have a vacuum advance with a mopar electronic ignition? Or does it need to have different distributor to get it to work right?
There does seem to be a little hesitation and some and minor backfireing. This could be carb related or timming but was wondering why no vacuum advance. Is it correct to have it that way?

How many degrees does the timing change when you hook up the vacuum advance and how much vacuum are you getting from the carb?

Well if it hooked to the right port on the carb there should be no vacuum there at idle. It is meant to work at cruising rpm light throttle.

You can test it buy hooking it to manifold vacuum if it idles up a bit it's working then put it back where it was.
