Anyone know what color the cover is supposed to be on a 69 hemi m/c cover. I thought some shade of light gold. Thanks Eric

Were the brackets assembled on the rear of the booster before paint? I mean all pins, pivots, and brackets would have been assembled before paint up to the firewall reinforcement plate? Or would the offset brackets and pivot(fulcrum) have been added after paint so the nuts and pins would not be painted? Actually as I type(slowly) I realize they probably(speculation) would have been assembled after paint since other BB cars without the offset also got this booster and MC. Brad

drum brakes - yellow zinc di-chromate
disc brakes - yellow zinc di-chromate - but painted gloss black with the power brake booster
Yes Bill and I painted my bendix booster and master cylinder set up on my 71 hemi cuda clone just like the factory did it as an assembly and the judges at the Nats deducted points for not having a plated master cylinder cap. The master cylinder caps were painted just like the rest of the assembly. But we have no recourse on final judgement calls ?

Although similar in appearence Hemi Boosters are unique to hemi cars. and I'm 99% sure the brackets and all were painted as an assembly with the booster.

Ha, Beat ya But I agree with you if that matters Also,,,,,I think the non hemi 67 B-body disc brake cars use a similar style if not the same booster and brackets as hemi cars

almost , non hemi cars didn't have a bracket in the rear , the booster mounts directly to the firewall reinforcement plate .
Sorry John... but he is correct. I have seen many ( and removed them ) on non-hemi 67 cars with disc brakes. FYI to all... those 66-67 Hemi boosters have a different looking vacuum port. It has 2 pc. lock nut looking connection rather than a grommet and push in valve. To answer than OP.... the hemi units were painted as a complete assembly with the linkage and all hanging off the back. As far as the Nats judges not knowing squat... I can believe that! When I had my 70 Hemi POWER DRUM brake Charger judged at Carlisle they said my painted drum MC was incorrect. They thought that ALL drum brake cars should be natural metal. Which is true, EXCEPT for POWER BRAKE HEMI CARS.

Didn't realize that 67 was different than the 68-70 Disc brake , non hemi cars

Thanks guys. I forgot about the larger stud size on Hemi boosters. Maybe this thread should go to the Tech Archives.

Can I ask about a '69 440 GTX with power disc brakes...............because I have a photo of the engine bay that I'm pretty sure was never touched (painted) and it has the power brake master cylinder and lid painted black like you stated. Note the brake lines exit the master cylinder on the passenger's side which I'm told is correct for a power disc '69 B-body at least?
Is all black correct for a '69 GTX 440 (4-speed if that even matters)? thanks.
