I got the chassis done on my car 70 duster and I had a BBC in it for a race and it died (stock bottom end block decent heads) So I am looking at doing a new motor and have been weighing out both options Chevy vs Mopar. For the chevy short block I can get a aftermarket block eagle rotating assembly and new roller cam and lifters for $6400 shipped to my door. Just bolt heads on it and go.

But I wanted to put a mopar engine back in it and I dont want a stock block or 440 source crap stroker kit I have seen 2 fail in my uncles car (assembled by Rex Hutchinson) So that seems to leave me with a world block for $3000. Are there any good builders putting these short block together that are comparable to what I can get by going Chevy? I am willing to pay a little more but not $5000 more.
sorry for the long post but its frustrating searching around these websites for the parts.

I don't think that you're going to get a race shortblock with a World block for $6400. I suppose it depends on the quality of parts that you want but even the really cheap parts are going to cost more than that. Also depends if you want the oiling system included, timing chain or belt drive, etc.

Lots of engine builders so it shouldn't be too hard to see what is available. Just depends on how much power you want and which heads you're going to run.

I am just looking for some good shops to talk to. Currently i am talking with nyes and shafiroff about bbc stuff. But i would like to get at least 750 or better. The heads are another issue indy heads are supposed to be the best but they have tons of issues and come with a huge price vs bbc conventional heads. I looked around trying to find used but very much luck

I had $5800 in my short block with a brand new Mega Block, Ross pistons, GRP rods, Eagle crank, Total Seal rings, Clevite bearings.

To achieve the power level you are looking for, it can be done for $10-11,000 with a big block Mopar if you buy everything new. I'm speaking from experience.

Did that include machine work? Where did you source the block? What heads were you using?

It was a finish machined block, but otherwise, all machine work/balancing was included. I used 440-1's and that did include having them ported as well. I got the block from a local machine shop at their cost.

We're pretty close being in Ca. so I'm sure I can help.
What is your total budget for the complete engine?
What power level do you want?
You can PM me if you like or stick to the thread either way I'd be happy to build you what you want!
Brian

If i could get the short block assembled for 6000 i would be willing to do it but what about heads whats it cost to get a good set of heads indys or b1 basically the top end kit heads intake rockers. I have a dan olsen pan for the external pickup deal using a moroso pump or how ever its done
