This guy is just the type NHRA seeks to kiss their butt. I know this is a business, but "the Don" as he calls himself, should take a look back at all of the talent he's fired. I am not a big Cory fan, but to me it looks as if "the Don" has stolen what Cory had and moved on. "The Don".....it's too bad his name wasn't Richard! I do feel bad for Hagen. He's too good a guy to work for the devil.

Don and NHRA have butted heads before.

Don didnt fire Cory, Honeywell fired Cory. Not to mention He is still employed at least for next year as a DSR Employee.

I'm not thinking that's how it worked out.....and I didn't hear anything about him being an employee. He fired McCullogh too, and from what I hear he may have fired Medlen. Although I heard he was going to be retained for next year.

They all still work for "The Don".

On another issue, Schumacher confirmed that while John Medlen was relieved of his duties as crew chief of the NAPA Auto Parts Funny Car driven by Ron Capps, he will still remain as part of DSR.

McClenathan counts his blessings that even though he’s out of a driving job, he’ll still be involved with DSR, confirming he will remain on a personal services contract for DSR and FRAM.

Finally a HUSKER again
We had VIP tickets to the NAPA tent, and I thought everyone, Tony, Ron, Corey, Jack were very cool. I could go to ant DSR tent. Don on the other hand was a small sharp pointy object commonly know as a [Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean]. VERY aarogant, and just didnt want to have anything to do with the people who paid the cash to be in his tent. Id do it again, I didnt go there to see him, I am a big Capps, Beckman fan, and to be able to chat with the "ACE" was one of my more memorable times of ever meeting any racer.

Don, aka THE DON just was not very friendly.
And I wasnt the only one who thought that. A friend of mine who owns a NAPA store in missouri said the same thing, and a few guys asked us if we thought THE DON was kinda beeing stuck up.

That is exactly how it worked out. Honeywell wanted younger talent.

There is going to be a 4th Schumacher funny car next year, possibly with Johnny Gray as a driver, for what its worth Medlen could possibly end up there

When a sponsor, Honeywell in this case, says "we want to try another direction" do you as a team owner say "no thanks, we like Cory" or do you say, "we will get right on it". If you want to keep your multi million dollar sponsor, your answer will be the latter.

And as stated, DSR will continue to keep Cory Mac on payroll, until he can find another ride. I am not a huge DS fan, but I thought that was classy.

As to why Honeywell wanted another driver, I would guess you could look in the back of the Dragster at the "left first" numbers in TF and see a possible reason.

It's different these days for Honeywell. They have the car, the team and the crew, to win a championship, something they have never had before. They just need a driver to make it happen. They were only a few rounds out at Vegas. Leaving first a few more times earlier in the year and you never know what could have happened.

As far as Medlen....he would rather be in the shop making trick parts, as at the track anyway. Likely his choice to step out

Word I heard was that they don't want him tuning and want him in the shop.....and he wants to tune....... spends too much time trying to make trick inventions work instead of just trying to win.......
