When installing a big block and a 727 in an A-body that is a column shift automatic, what linkage would be rquired? Would the linkage from a small block with a 727 be the same or would you need to use the column shift linkage from a B,C or E-body with a big block?

You need the A body specific linkage, and just so you know very few if any column auto Big block cars were built and they would only be 383 cars.

Plan on modifying something to fit , start with A body 727 , again good luck finding that one also.

A 383 with a 727 is what I need the linkage for. I want to keep the column automatic shifter when I install the big block combo. If I got a set of 318/340/727 linkage would it just be a matter of lengthening some of the rods or would it be more involved than that? Are the parts that actually connect the linkage to the trans. different?

The length of the Z bar is going to be much shorter , I can't tell you if the other parts are different because I have NEVER seen them. The only way to know what fits exactly is to mock it up and see what you need to change.

I'm gonna need the same thing, but in a '72 B-body. SB/904 to a BB/727 column shift linkage. Good luck.
