I don't see the problem with pulling the engine/trans and going through it to make it driveable(enjoyable). I personally would not want a rusty Hemi in my engine compartment. As for the wheel cylinders etc. who cares? you can't see them anyway. I wouldn't agree with cutting it up and tubbing it but I would clean it up and replace what is necessary and keep as much paint/interior original as possible. Oh yeah, I would put some period correct mags and tires on it to give it a 60's street racer look. Kind of like this one.

On an engine like that it's not the larger obvious details that are lost it's the smaller details that get lost in a rebuild. Things like paint overspray on the various attaching brackets, nuts, bolts, etc. which get cleaned of thier details and put back on with the wrong details, etc. I'm sure Bob has that all figured out by the sound of things. Bob, do you have any pics of the engine before it was torn down? I'm interested in seeing some of the following: - Battery cable ends
- Bell housing to block area
- Rear drivers side head battery cable bracket
- Oil sender and surounding area
- Dip stick tube and clamp details
- Rear heat tubes
- Coke tubes and thier hardware
- Water pump bolts that would have held the power steering pump bracket if so equipped
- Oil Filter to pump mounting face
- Intake and carb details especially looking for spray patters around the carb bases and where the valve covers meet the heads
- Exhaust manifold to block hardware paint
- Motor mount bolts showing which head markings etc.
- Engine pulley bolts before cleanup
- Fuel lines and routing
- Original fuel filters?
Keep the pics comming!  *Everyone notice that that is Race hemi Orange, not Street hemi Orange as allot of people would think.

As far as my other comments AT NO POINT did I exclaim that the car should not be driven or stashed away in a hyperbaric chamber for all eternity! I hope the owner drives and enjoys it to the max!
All I was trying to convey is that there are so few of these cars that are still untouched originals, especially the engine bays. It is a shame to lose another pristine example for whatever reason, at least before the finer details are recorded in extreme detail so they can at least be used as future restoration reference material. I am more sensitive to this subject than most because I am heavily involved and interested in restoration work and judging them. I can't tell you how many "survivor" cars I've seen with freshly painted engines and detailed undercarriages, about all that "survived" or was left original was the paint on many of them. I see it as an opportunity to gain knowledge lost and too me that's a shame.
As far as the comments about me losing business? Of course I value the business you guys give me, my customers are my most important asset. But does being a business owner remove my right to voice a personal opinion? I really hope not. In the end whether you agree with my opinions or not I stand by my posts here on Moparts, I'm not perfect and I'll occasional make a mistake, and when I do I'll be the first to take the responsibility.
Thanks Scott,that you like me can and do make mistakes,but are respectful enough to apologize speaks volumes of your character.I was not trying to bash you only defend our reputation.You may not realize what all we do at BGR.We have restored cars and assisted in many high doller projects for many years.  No toes stepped on here,just an irritated bear that got poked.

That's an engine lifting bracket typically found attached on either the front or rear of the engine (heads). Have any pics before removal?

Correct,they were very seldom left on the engine.
