Other than mail order is there any place that carries the glyptal paint? I see where it is also used in electrical motors and thought maybe kirby risk.

I buy mine from a local industrial supply warehouse. Probably one similar in your area. This one is not a franchise/chain type deal, just a privately owned company.

The Glyptol that Eastwood sells is NOT the G.E brand, there is a world of difference Sorry for not pointing that out sooner

You know what's better than painting your lifter valley? Grinding the lifter valley smooth. Yes, it's more work, but you won't have to worry about the stuff flaking off and doing harm to your engine.

I have painted mine before. It made it easy to see when cleaning. On the other side look inside of a Barton Hemi. No paint,no grinding in the valley area. If it was really worth it wouldn't he do it? The motors do have the lower block area milled for windage though.

I'm not sure, I've never used the G.E brand I used the stuff Eastwood sells once, never agian, it would chip off, way to hard I use the red Rustoleum Damp Proof Primer in all of my motors As far as what Barton uses his prices are expensive enough, deburring and painting the insides does not add to the power, just the longivity

Although there are not as many as thier used to be look for a local electric motor company. Anyone who rebuilds electric motor shouddl have it local. Even as pointed out electrical supply houses carry it. BTW I have never seen it flake off if PROPERLY applied also never used anything but the original. I have also used the damp proof rustoleum with no issues.
