The seal on the heater valve could be leaking.Yes the whole box has to come out. That and mark the vacuum lines and dont bend the heat cable.I have a complete box in the garage but its been probally 10 years since zi pulled it out of my parts car.The air hoses will probally fall apart if you arent careful.Rocky

where the heck can I get a heater core for my '65 Belvedere? The local parts store has no listing(O'Reilly Auto)
Nobody makes a replacement, so you need to have your's rebuilt.
Contact.. http://www.classicheaters.com/ They can rebuild yours, takes about a week, provided they have the core materials in-stock.
Just my $0.02...

The valve is on the drivers side. Its right near the gas pedal.I have to crawl under the dash to flip mine as my cable went south years ago.The valve is easy to get out once you pull the box.I have my spare one sitting in the garage.Rocky
