My dad put a set on his 500" with a MP .590 cam and 12:1 comp. The heads had little work done to them, flowed .297@.600 or.650.
Dynoed the motor using a SMALL set of headers and a worked over 850 carb(needed a 1050 dom) and it made 614hp@5400 and 688tq@4400.

Not a big block just a tiny 365 but I run Modern Cylinder Head cnc ported edelbrocks and the mopar .590 solid. Best time is 11.00 @ 122. Hoping to get in the 10.80's this weekend. My car weighs 3250 and has an 8 " 5200 converter.

A couple of racers I know use that exact combination. It works real well. You need to upgrade the valve springs to make it last.I use Comp 928's for that setup.

I had a typical trw piston/stock rod 440 with bagshaw ported 906's and hi-rate of lift .570 Hughes hydraulic cam, and it went consistant 10.80-10.90 in my 2900lb 70 Challenger with a glide. I put Eddie RPM's and a 590 on that shortblock, and the 2nd pass with no tuning was 10.69.
The seventh pass I hit it with 250 out of the hole, and stacked 175 on it in 2nd... it kicked a rod at 1100 ft, and broke the cam in 3 places on it's way to a 9.21-141. That was the end of my experience with that combo!!!

Anyone get this kind of combination to work with lower numerical gear combinations such as 3.55 to 3.91?

hey mr rook

my junk is similar to your question -

493 , eddy rpm's , .060 milled

cam is flat tappet 611 lift , car is about 3200 without fat driver.
4500 stall - 410 gear with 29.5" tall tire

lots of bugs and problems/ weather in 2010 , but it went 6.58 at 103 , and 10.40 1/4 , best 60' was 1.411 .

like they all say -- I KNOW theres more in it

send me a pm for my number , if you want to talk details or shoot the sht.
