Question with all the reproductions being made and the fake part stamps out there, how can you tell if a Cuda shaker baseplate adapter ring is real? I recently bought one that has #3418673 made in Canada stamped on the bottom of it. It looks original but I'm not sure. Is there a way to be positive?

Thats a real adapter you have.
The likely reason for the smeared stamp is a summer student hired at peak production didn't line the letters up right and didn't use enough ink.
Dan's picture is of a Ben Snobar repro, which differs a bit from a Gean Gregory repro.
There are other differences.
The baseplates themselves are a little tougher to distinguish but there are telltale signs.

Thanks for all the replies. Now I can rest a little easier. I had to replace the one I originally got with the car because it had a big piece cut out of the back, and all the welded nuts had been knocked out, so I was using 1/4" nuts and bolts to hold down the bubble, quite a pain in the rump. It only took me 32 years to get around to it. Actually I recently retired so now I have the time to get the car in shape.

Hi Mark,
Thanks, by the way my wife should get some credit for keeping this car. Even in our darkest hours she refused to let me sell it and she has put up with me and the car since 1978!! Who says marriage doesn't work. Here are some pics.

This is my old NY State vanity plate. The car had these on when it was photographed in 1981 at Raceway Park, Englishtown NJ, for Muscle Car magazine it appeared on the cover (Summer 85) and also an article in the 1st edition of High Performance Mopar (Summer 87). I restored the car to its original vitamin c in 1982. It was Hemi orange in the magazine pictures, that's the color it was when I bought it in 1978. It took them that long to get the car in the magazines.
