Can someone post some pics of a set of '71 valve covers. I have a question with regard to a "raised" bump on the driver's side vc and if it was possibly a mid-year change? Here's a pic of the vc in question, and please disregard the C-body exh. manifold. Thanks.
I "think" that your left one is incorrect for 1971. There was no raised area (looks like it was for an oil cap?) . They did have the wire tabs (2) , one on back / top of the cover & one on upper part approx. in the middle. My

those are 1971-72 ones B-body's don't have tabs on them
The ones you are describing are 73's.
Thank you I stand corrected

Thanks Nick. Your pics raise another question. When were the exh. manifold heat shields used?
The pre-heat stove on the left manifold was used on non-N96 4bbl applications, with the standard dual snorkel air cleaner.

Ryan- Here 2 pics, both from different 71 440's, Top one is the original on my Sept LA built GTX, no raised bump. The second pic is of my original on my Dec Lynch Rd built R/T, with a raised bump.
Nick, Do you still have either one of these cars?. if so, is the lower outer fasteners studs with nuts or simple bolts
