Where is the best place to wire a voltmeter into the wiring. I thought I would wire it to the starter relay, but wouldn't it draw current with the key off? This is not an aftermarket voltmeter, thus no instructions.

Thankful for any help.

Hook the voltmeter to any keyed source of battery voltage.

Thanks John...I thought it should be wired to a key activated circuit, but I was at a local car cruise last night and noticed a brand X car was reading about 12 volts with the engine off. Made me wonder.

Thanks again

Best way is to wire directly or as close electrically as possible to the battery (battery disconnect switch if you have one). That gives you the most accurate reading. Anything else will show a lower battery voltage because of voltage drop - - unless the circuit is not drawing any current.
