Hey folks,

Had a header leak at the head, was tightening the bolt and stripped it *^()*%$#! Thought it was just the bolt, but using a new bolt in the hole didn't hold it. I retapped the hole, put in a new bolt and that didn't hold either...

Do they make slightly oversized self-tapping header bolts?

I'd rather not pull the engine to heli coil it.

Any other ideas?

Which is stronger:

ARP Stainless Steel claiming 15% stronger than Grade 8 steel bolts

or

ARP Chromemoly 170,000 psi tensile strength bolts?

Get a 3/8-16 heil coil kit and use the tap that is made for the 3/8 insert. If you want to go up a bolt size it will cause other issues and troubles installing it as well. Can you use a metric stud with sealer ?
