On my 68 Valiant, when i turn my headlights on, my park lamps go out. Everything else works fine, I removed the light switch(it looked like it was recently replaced)and swapped it with one outta my 76 volare parts car, and got the same results. I thought this had something to do with the horrible repair job on the turn signals back in the day. The turn signal switch went bad, and someone cut the wires and put in one of those aftermarket switches in it. Well i replaced the switch with a correct Chrysler T/S switch, but still no park lamps. They work fine without the headlights on. Can anybody ?

I did the same thing with my 68dart when I first got it

also drove me nuts looking into why the driver side brake light did not work

pass side goes thru it but did not work, worked with the pass side blinker blinking though

come to be the turn sig switch on the colum, handle hung down from age and would cancil the brake light but not blink yet

then I looked all over to figure out how the rev light worked...last place i would have thought to look was down on the lower part of the colum under the dash

and 68 was the only kool any kind of mopar with the bullseye side marker lights

have you went to the newer style solid state elect voltage regulator yet with the 1 wire 68 alt?

that was one of the best things I did to mine, that and pertronix points conversion in the dist

No, i plan to change over to the electronic style that looks orig, like what is advertised here on moparts, but workin 80hrs a week, i barely have time to put gas in her. I haven't even been able to do the electronic ign. upgrade (i have everything ex the dizzy). But it still runs like a sewing machine with the points. I have added a dual field alternator since the anemic original 30 amp wasn't cutting it. my needle spent more time on "D" than "C". But its my only project car that I get to drive while i work on her. Plus that 225 gets decent milage and still turns heads.

Correct for a '68 Valiant! '68 (maybe 67?) was a transition year. For example, '68 Barracuda, parking lights stay on. So you can find some '68 models with parking lights off, and others with them on.

This is a standard function of the '67 and '68 Barracudas as a styling choice instead of a safety thing.

Are there two wires that I can jump to get the parks lamps working?
