I have a 66 model year 383 that is factory drilled for the driver side motor mount that attaches to the front of the block. Is this exactly what was used in the 383 A-body cars? I also have the bracket. I plan to sell it and want to make sure I advertise it correctly. Thanks Tom

They didn't put big blocks in A bodies in 1966 , but you knew that. that is the C body mount point as mentioned.
Every 383 before 1970 has those nubs and prior to 68 they were ALL drilled and tapped, only select blocks destined for A body usage were drilled and tapped and one other operation performed to the block. That block should not have had that extra operation so it's obviously not an A body specific block that will garner you extra $$$, assuming that is your thinking. this is of course assuming also it's not stamped as a 68 or 69 model year which is possible , but highly unlikely, given the shear volume of 383 cars built during that era.

Yes, since it was used in 66, it's not a "real" A-body 383. What I'm trying to determine is if it will mate/fit correctly in a A-body so long as the correct K-frame is used. Here's a pic of the bracket.
Thanks again...

The only difference in the block will be that the rear motormount boss on the drivers side will be shaved off for an A-Body.
Is this the extra operation performed to the block? I wonder why they shaved the mount off. What did (or would have) it hit/rubbed?
