according to my hollander, the rear leafs are interchangeable. they are : 1 3/4[w] x 24 13/16c.28 13/16 they fit :dodge 35-52,desoto 49-52[except8 cyl,8pass], plymouth 37-52,chrysler 49-50, 50-52 windsor & newyorker, and imperial 50-52 except crown. the fuel tanks show only 49-52 models chrysler, dodge, desoto, plymouth interchange, but it's possible they are very close to the 40 model year, maybe needing very slight mods to fit up. hope this helps.

What's with the 241?Fix it,that '40 needs an old Dodge HEMI! RT
its in the garage,,soon i hope to know if its worth the time and money to fix this motor,,,241
it was fresh when i got the car,,being that factory 4bbl intake are almost impossible to find, the previous owner had an in take made,,was a nice piece,,but no need for a prostock in take on a 241 c i motor,,,
i located a factory 4 bbl intake,,all was fine,, then i had a sticking lifter,, so removed it to replace all the lifters,,not sure when the problem came in to play,,but,, i then installed stainless arp intake bolts,,they had small nipples on the ends so i ground off the ends of the bolts,, used stainless sealant,,
started having anti freeze out both exhaust pipes,,no cross over,,one head had been repaired from the previous owner when the motor was built,,
plus i stumbled on to a few freeze plug bore problems,,, i let the car sit and noticed one day the radiator was low,, so i topped it off,,i then noticed there was a trail of water on each side of the intake where the intake meets the head,,im assuming now that i may have a leak at one of the intake bolts or where the head and intake meet, maybe one of the surfaces are not mating properly,,( that would explain the ton of rtv on the orignal intake) if thtas the case then ill move on to the freeze plug bore problem,,
if you have ever seen the freeze plugs in these motors,,you will know what im talking about,, they installed brass plugs,, brass is soft and will not spread out like a steel plug when smacked with a hammer,, so they arent sealing,, so they sealed them up with what i think is JB WELD,, one was leaking thats how i discovered they are brass,,the freeze lug bore above the starter has part of the sholder broken off,,
i had a stainless plug made that will screw in to the block on a T BAR held in at the back of the bore,, if it works bingo,,,,if not,,ill have to decide if its worth tearing down this motor,,and having the freeze plug bores milled out to accept a more modern type plug,,or milled out and threaded and make screw in plugs,,leave one front plug on each side masybe like a modern plug,,,
