I have to agree on the 300. I know there is quite a bit of German engineering all over the 300....

development was actually well underway on the LX's when the merger happened. in fact, Daimler delayed the release of them because of demands to redesign to incorporate daimler parts (steering column is the biggie, but also the rear axle,etc) to gain some economy of scale sourcing parts for the E-class.
