I'm sure that was part of the issue. From what I heard, the vendor who did a lot of the CNC work for Edelbrock went under and so a bunch of projects under development were cancelled or delayed.
That couldn't be the whole story though because Edelbrock could obviously ship heads to Modern for CNC work if they wanted. So there must be some sort of "it isn't worth it" decision going on also.

Nope. And Edelbrock has removed them from their web site, too. Guess they got the ol' flusheroo due to the economy.
