All of the high $ racers I know that run N/A heads up including Comp elminator racers use CGI blocks They are stronger than cast grey iron, make more power and so on. Cons thier heavier, harder to machine, more money to machine, more money to purchase and cost more money I have my name on Worlds CGI waiting list

CGI works nice for truck engines. I'm pretty sure that is where the technology came from. It is just a stronger type of cast iron. If a company was willing to invest the money, then a CGI block would be lighter than a regular cast iron block. But as far as I know, the World CGI block is going to be just as heavy as the regular iron block.

I would think that the NASCAR blocks use the strength of the CGI material to reduce weight wherever possible. But those guys have tons of money and are willing to spend it.

Actually, I believe they are somewhat lighter in weight than cast iron blocks, possibly due to the higher strength contributing to less need for thick cylinder walls.
