Would any additional support be required (i.e. extra bearing) at the nose of the crank for a Hemi running an F2-ProCharger (max 15lbs boost).

I have a billet dual-key crank & we're making up front drive system for accessories and the blower. The engineer has made support bearings for other apps (like GM/Ford etc). I would think that the Hemi is pretty strong in this area. What do the top fuel/pro mod guys run in terms of support?

..opinions and ideas appreciated!

Blown Hemis w/big boost(rotor type blowers) use a front crank suport. Otherwise they crack in the #1 throw. Dont know how much load the centrifical types put on the crank. I suspect that not nearly as much due to it being baisicaly a gear driven turbo. So the main shaft requires less torque to rotate. Speed is generated by a gearset in the blower assembly and boost is controlled by bleed off. whereas speed/boost is all belt/Pulley dependant on a rotor type blower.

thanks.., those were my thoughts too.

Would be interesting to know the loading variation on the crank (or parasitic losses) as a A vs B comparison between CD & centrifugal blowers.

I think I could only justify this approach if it adds some longevity, durability or reduces maintenance in the setup.

Be good to hear from anyone with a bearing setup and their experience and why/why not etc.

I ran my 547 hemi with a f2 all season without bearing/crank issues.
14lbs of boost on my motor.
IMO it's not enough boost to stress the crank.
You should cal steve morris if your really concerned.
