Has anyone successfully installed 325/50/15" M/T DOT tires on a stock 67 Coronet?

MY 67 CHARGER HAS 28 X 14.50 X 15 ON 12" WHEELS WITH 5 1/2" OF BACKSPACING.STOCK WIDTH 8 3/4. I MOVED THE SPRINGS IN 3" PER SIDE AND MINI TUBBED IT. VERY EASY AND WELL WORTH IT. THESE CARS LOOK REALLY GOOD WITH SOME TIRE ON THE BACK.AND NOBODY CAN EVEN TELL WITH THE STOCK INNERS WIDENED. MOVE THE SPRINGS INTO THE FRAME. Uploaded with ImageShack.usWIDEN THE STOCK WHEEL WELLS. URL=http://img835.imageshack.us/i/998879571ukwsvxl Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usITS REALLY NOT TO BAD ONCE YOU DIG INTO IT.i THINK I HAVE ABOUT 5" BETWEEN THE BACK OF THE TIRE AND THE SPRING NOW SO I COULD GO TO A BIGGER TIRE WITH MORE BACKSPACE.

That is exactly how I did mine. 3 1/2" strip in the old wheel well. Cut the floor out flush with the frame rail and move the old wheel well in.

So leave about 3 1/2 inches of the old wheel well (from outside in) and then cut right to the frame rail?

I have the stock wheel lip. I used a 3 1/2" wide strip of sheetmetal to widen the inner fenderwell Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.us

I left it alone. No issues at all! I'll see if I can get some pics of what it looks like now, now that it looks better than what I posted here... Best of luck!

No cage yet.... still having fun tuning it and getting to the point of needing a cage - best of 11.80 @ 114 and change, 1.61 60'. Not complaining at all for a full steel/interior 67 Coronet. If all goes as planned, Dwayne Porter will be getting my Eddy heads over the winter and having some fun with them... I'm sure after that, I'll be needing a cage. If I recall, S&W has cages/roll bars for 67 Coronet at a very reasonable $$. Might want to look into them when you can... http://www.swracecars.com/index.aspxDave

Very nice work - looks as clean as mine now too. I went back, cleaned it up, got rid of the uneven surfaces, finished it off and did the trunk floor as well like yours. Looks great!!
