I want to run my fuel pressure gauge inside my car so I need to purchase a fuel isolator. Mallory and Autometer are all I can find. Are there any other choices out there? Any opinions on them? thanks. Ken

I use the autometer on mine. Been on for 20 years, no problems.

I really wanted the Mallory kit, but every time I went to order one they were on back order.
I gave up and went with the Auto meter unit....
If you can swing the electric sender style, that would be the hot route.

Lomgacre sells them as well. HOWEVER I woudl not run one, they do not show minute changes in fuel pressure and are very slow to react if there is a proiblem. We had a fuel pressure in a car a couple of years back that never showed on the gauge. Removed the isolater and zip tied the gauge to the cowl and low and behold the car was loosing 5 lbs of fuel presssure going downtrack, was a clogged filter. The gauge never moved with the isolater hooked up. Just my BTW this was with the Autometer one. If you want to know what your fuel pressure is really doing I would not recommend using one.

If the isolator line was filled with fluid, no air in the system how could the isolator not show exact pressure? I'm no rocket scientist but fluid in a contained area can't compress.

Fluid in the isolator that is air tight will expand with temp. increase. This will give inaccurate readings.( read higher pressure with more heat)

I have a mallory isolator on mine. works perfectly, but it took some finagling. i installed bleed fittings at each end, and my vdo gauge had some kind of damping material that swelled when saturated in coolant. i removed that, and works better now than when it was hooked up directly.

I ran the Autometer on my car. The reading on the gauge would change with temp changes because of expansion of the fluid between the gauge and isolator. It was only good to see if pressure changed during a run.

Maybe I was not clear so lets try again. They show pressure fine. However they are VERY slow to react to small changes in pressure. In other words if oyu have a problem it MAY not ever show on the gauge. We thought we had a few pressure issue, chased our tales trying to find something elseas the gauge said all was well. Remove the isolater and viola we have a fuel pressure issue, I have seen it three other times. IMO they are fine for a street car but have no lace in a race car. Whats the best way to bleed the autometer setup? My car has been down for eight years and just now going back together. I believe it was Mr P body that said to fill the line with glycerin(sp?). I did this and capped the line while everything was apart. It only reads a tiny amount of pressure and another gauge under the hood reads 6psi. So I am wondering how to add fluid to this thing without introducing air into it? If I hadn't already depleated my car money getting this thing back on the road i would have put an electric one in it. Thanks for any help!

I just submerged the entire line in some anti-freeze, being careful not to spill any out. I had some caps that I used on one end. Then I just installed the open end on the gauge with the line below,not spilling any, run it out and hooked it up.
