Has anyone had success repacking 8-3/4" axle bearings with the bearings on the axle? Typically I pack a new bearing prior to pressing it onto the axle but I've got a pair of bearings that are looking a little dry and would prefer to repack them instead of replacing them.

Thanks.

It is/was done every day. Get your self a needle for your grease gun and pack grease between every roller and smear it around the surface before installing.

Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks. But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

X2, flush it out first with brake wash and blow it out with compressed air.

i use a greese needle on the front inner wheel bearing as well to save the seal

I do it every time the brakes/rotor is off

even greese a few NON-greeseable tie rod/ball joints with the needle thru the rubber boot

well worth the couple $$ for it at the auto store
