I can not get the oil plugs out of the back of my 318. They are for the lift galley. They are a pipe plug with a square inside and a 3/8 ratchet will not go into it to get it out. Could you please let me know what I need to use?
Thanks

I have ground down a 3/8 extention to fit

I also used a torch to get it cherry red and then hit it with the 3/8 drive air hammer with extention

after they are out,and you buy a complete core plug kit(I prefer brass core plugs for the block)those are replaced with allen plugs that a regular allen wrench fits

i have the part # at home for a complete kit, which also comes with a oil pump drive bushing for the block as well

I will post it later

I just happened to have this 5/16" square key ( I think it was the crank key on a 260 olds that I scrapped) and a broken 3/8" drive socket so I welded part of the key to the socket. Works good but I probably won't be able to find it next time I need it.

Sears has them. Harbor Frieght has disposable ones.
Harbor calls them drain plug sockets. Sears calls them pipe plug sockets. Hard to find without the proper name.
