I installed a LD4B on my mild 72 Sebring with a 904. The Kick down has to be modified because the Carb sat ahead 1 " from the cast 360 intake.
Thanks Mike B.
Now the car shifts late . Into 2nd at 25 mph and
third at 50 mph. This is with mild acceleration. And shifts are a little hard.
I am assuming the linkage or rod is not set up right. Can anyone help on how to correct this with the kick down. Worked perfect before.
Thanks in advance
Fred..

You could try to modify the stock linkage but you would just be waisting your time. It would be much easier just to by a kickdown cable kit from Locar or MP. I bought one for a big block Dakota project I was working on and it is a simple install. Don't mess with the stock linkages.

Thanks for the reply .
When you say a simple install. How much work is involved.
What I don't understand is , it worked perfect with a carter on a cast 360 intake. I installed a
LD4B and moved the linkage 1 " ahead to match the carb location. And things go to Crap .

if ya go cable use the boushlin sp? set up its a lot better and it uses the cable off late modal trucks

you need to adust the lever down on the tranny and get the shift points where ya want it to shift

if you made the rod longer the lever needs readjusted

some push the rod all the way foward against the carb and push the lever all the way foward at the tranny

some hold the carb wide open and adjust the rod at the tranny all the way back

that would make it do what you describe, so move the lever on the tranny foward a little and its sould shift a little early-er

test and adjust till ya get it where you like it,or like it was

it will take some play to find a happy medeum, with the shift some times when moding the linkage

I say set it all the way foward to start and keep moveing the lever at the tranny back till you get the up shift were ya like it

that linkage at the carb need a spring to pull it tight to the carb and moves when the carb moves

your on the right track IMO,just needs some more tweeking

SUCCESS

Thats what I did and now normal driving shifts into 2nd at 20 mph and 3rd at 30 mph.
Nail the trottle at 25 mph and it shifts into
1st then into 2nd at 40 mph

WOW Now I can smell the tires burning LOL

Thanks again.

The car origionally came with a Holley SD.
I replaced it with a cast 360. The SD
had a never ending rear gasket leak.
I am assuming it was warped.
The cast 360 gave me a little better bottom end but I lost noticable top end. The Holley SD
liked 2500 rpm and up. Great for the highway.
I am going to drive with the LD4B for a while
so I can do some comparisons.
First thing I noticed the LD4B has a lower smoother idle than the cast 360.

I had the same issues on my 74 Duster as well as 86 Ram.... I bought the entire Lokar set-up, throttle cable, bracket and kickdown linkage. It's all cut to length, and amazingly adjustable, plus it looks sexy! Works perfectly with no complaints. Whole setup will put you back around #140.00

It ain't illegal unless you get caught!
