I'm helping a neighbor on his 72 scout.2 barrel holley carb,2300 series. And the float bowl will partially fill and as it is idleing it goes down and won't refill.I have adjusted the float up down sideways,no change.Fuel pressure is 4.5 pounds max.I rebuilt the carb the other day,the float seems to move freely,I've done alot of holleys over the years and I'm stuck.I'm sure it is something simple, and just missing it.HELP!!

run a hose from a can of gas to the pump inlet. this'll tell you if the prob is rearward from there (cracked neoprene connector hoses/severly crimped hard line (not likely)/clogged pickup in the tank OR if the prob is forward from there (pump/how the arm is activated on this non Mopar /clogged filter/needle/seat prob/pinhole leak in carb body (not likely), just throwing everything out there, non Mopars need all the help they can garner

I actually cranked the engine with the needle and seat out and no flow.I think the eccentric for the mech. pump is worn or broke, depending on the style. So we are going to try an electric pump and see.Crossing my fingers.

sometimes a worn mech pump (even a new one) has a hard time self priming (but you did have gas for awhile)& will not put out enough vol w cranking but will once it's running w the worn pumps' arm being stroked faster. How hard is the eccentric on this non Mopar to get to, to eyeball it? I sure think that'd be easier/cheaper/quieter than plumbing in an elec. Good luck w it. EDIT I'd slap on a new $20 pump & give it a shot
