First photo is a somewhat rare 66 Fury dash from a Fury I (no padding) and with A/C vents.

Second photo is a typical 66 Fury dash which is padded.

The frames are different in that the no pad dash does not have holes drill in it for pad clips.

My choices are to use the original padded dash and pay $850 to Just Dashes to get it redone, or paint the No Pad dash in an original two tone scheme for about $50.

What do you think looks better? Would the all metal dash look too cheap? Or would it look cool because it has the added element of forehead- smacking-against-the-dash appeal?

+2 The no pad looks MUCH better. Plus, in this case, if the driver ever smacks his head against it it might actually help.

OK, thanks. No pad it is. I went down and bought some paint in two colors. New, these were painted a darker shade on top and a light shade on bottom so I will try to replicate that. The light shade is a 99 Chrysler color and the dark is a 2000 Ferrari color. Can't go wrong with that.
