Hi I'm new to the board, someone at a show told me to ask you guys about the issue I'm having with my wipers. The passenger side is stuck up a few inches and the wipers will also turn on and off intermittently. can any of you guys help out

Welcome to Moparts.

Were both wipers synchronized previously?

The intermittent functioning is likely a problem with the switch, the wiring between the switch and motor, or an internal motor problem. The wiring is the easiest to check, then the switch, and the most difficult, the motor. Contacts wear inside both the switch and motor, and with a 40 year old car it's not uncommon.

yea the wipers where synchronized and the car was in storage for the last 2 years, when we pulled it out the wipers are now off I drove the car to work today and now I have a voltage issue the alternator puts out no charge at all when the car is idling but it cranks up to about 15 16 volts at about 2500 rpm. Is it possible my v regulator is bad and the voltage spikes are causing a issue with the wipers???

thanks for the welcome

the switch was not grounded...sorry about the typo..

the panel in which the switch is located in the dash grounds itself

I both were syrnchronized and now one is not, there is a problem wih the wiper transmssion aka linkage. I don't think '70 E-bodies use the white nylon wiper bushings that later Moaprs do (and those white bushings commonly degrade and fail), so I suggest you take a look at the wiper linkage and see if anything is loose.

Is it possible the unsynchronized wiper arm is not firmly on its pivot? I would check that first, and make sure the splines on the tip of the pivot shaft are not stripped, and that the wiper arm's socket is fully seated on the pivot's tip.

I think the voltage issue is another, separate issue.

I have the same issue with my T/A. Turns out my switch on my rallye gauge cluster was faulty. I found out when I removed it after I saw plumes of smoke coming out of the small speaker hole on the drivers side! Beware of this potential fire hazard. I sent it off to Canada and had it fixed. Now need to install and address the offset wiper issue.
