Even Shell Rotella 15-40 has reduced zinc now. you can thank the catalytic converters on deisels for that one.
Valvoline VR1 20W50 Racing is reduced zinc.
You need Valvoline NFS(not for street use) oil it is listed in Jegs but can be ordered a lot cheaper at NAPA. I run crude base NFS Valvoline 10W30 racing oil.

Thanks guys I knew the race forum guys would know what options are out there No matter what good oil cost it is worth it compaired to what it would cost if an engine is toasted
if your willing to spend the money, i would go with Brad Penn!

I will post my standard reply once more.In over 40 years of racing I have never seen an engine failure due to the brand or blend of it's oil used. It's demise always comes from poor assembly, incorrect or inferior parts. SHOW ME ONE THAT DIED WHEN USING CORRECT WEIGHT, CLEAN OIL ,GOOD FILTER AND NORMAL RACE ABUSE

Pennzoil 25/50 RACING oil. If you are not comfortable with the zinc content in it,,add a bottle of Erson's zinc additive. I have had no problems there.
If you like drag racing, support your local track.

Anybody had any oil failures directly due to lack of zinc? Is this another Freon scare?

Zalt ... It is formulted for older engines. You dont need any additives with this oil. Its the only oil I use in my 65 now.

My street driven 440 had a hydraulic cam that wiped a lobe/lifter after several years of running. Right after the year the oils reduced their zinc content.
IMO, only flat tappet cams are at risk. I think the rest of the motor doesn't need all the anti scuff protection.
