I pulled a couple of carbs off a hemi motor and want to ID them. One has a painted tag that reads 4971S 2975 40 and has a side stamping of 1866 and a top stamping of 1943.

The other has no tag and has a side stamping of 1862 and a top stamping of 2312.

Any other numbers I should be looking for? Here are the top view of the two carbs, the 4971S first:

The motor supposedly came out of a 1968 hemi charger, but the block I think dated 1966. The carb cleaner base was hacked up on one hole so I think maybe the un-tagged carb was meant for something else as the top is bigger.

Who knows where these carbs are from, what year, if they are desired for restoration work, etc.

I bet someone here knows! Thanks

the 4971S is a '71 426 HEMI front carb (over-the-counter piece)

the other carb is an AVS what is stamped on the foot of both bases?

Both carbs on the base say "Carter AFB"

On the other side it's hard to read the numbering, but here we go (best I can do)

4971S is stamped "K5 4971 S"

The other one is stamped "F7 9626?A"

Any help?

Dan nailed it, an over the counter 71 Hemi carb and a 9000 series AVS. The AVS is not worth much as a core, basically a $50.00 carb. The Hemi is worth whatever someone will pay, figure a minimum of $500.00. It's a tough call because of the late date code.
