I hope someone here can help me answer a question. After many years, I'm getting back into cars and have been offered a HEMI block for my project. It has a crack in the middle main web about 3" long. I have checked into some metal shops that weld professionally and can do cast iron (pre heat, weld, cool down etc.). My question is, has anyone done this, and would it even hold in this high stress area? The horsepower levels would be under 500. Thanks, Henry
If I knew retirement was this great, I would have done it first!

I agree with all of the above.....Make a great door stop. If you want to chance it get ahold of Mike at www.rocketresto.com, he tells me there's a guy he knows in Western Washington who's a magician with cast iron welding. Personally I don't have allot of faith in any type of cast iron welding in a main web area.

You may want to check out a company called Lock-N-Stitch, the kits are reasonable, or diesel shops do it for you. Cummins diesels are fixed this way a lot. I am not recommending or condemning, just making you aware of another method to fix a crack in cast iron. rbd
