I have a set of 15 year-old sixpack carbs that I want to get rebuilt. They're in good shape cosmetically but they need to be gone through. Has anyone used Holley for this type of service? What kind of results did you have?

Thanks

I used them about 15 years ago. They did a respectable rebuild and recolor on my 4160 for my 383. The priced seemed reasonable then too.

I don't know that Holley does them anymore? It sounds like all you need is a simple rebuild if they are "cosmetically" OK or do you want them concours restored? Why not just buy the gasket kits and do them yourself? Holley's are pretty easy. There are a few people on the Forum who can help. Just ask who else other than Holley dies them.

From the ones I have seen in person at least their replating does not look original at all. More like they had them bronzed. Or at least yellowish bronzed. Should be more like a goldish green, which is hard to describe.

The pics on Harms page look pretty good, but I have not seen his work in person. If you are Want a show quality original job, and want a second opinion call The Old Carb Doctor (828) 659-1428 and see who he recommends. He knows most people in the antique carb biz, but he doesn't do Holleys or modified hipo stuff , I'm sure he could point you in the right direction.

I don't really need and plating work. The carbs still look great. They've been rebuilt once already but I just can't get them back to how they used to run. I was hoping to get a 'factory reset' kind of deal figuring screwed something up along the way.

I have used both Scott and Holley. In the last year I have had 2 sets of Hemi carbs and 2 sets of 6 paks done by both. After comparing the two, I will recommend Scott. Holley does a good job, BUT IMO Scott is much better at authentic RESTORATION, and his carbs just plain run better out of the box. Don't get me wrong because Holley DOES do a good job, but Scott is better

Don't waste your time with anyone except Scott. I've used 4 different companies/"experts" and haven't had any come out that look and run as good as Scotts.
