I have a 440 six pack and almost ready to install the engine. I have the original fan (2863 216) and a (new) fan clutch. Will my application require a fan spacer ? It seems like everything will work just fine like it is. Why do some cars have spacers and are they required/suggested ?

THanks for any advice.

All the spacers I have seen are on fixed fan blades. The clutch should put it where it needs to be. I know on my 383 it is about 3/4 inch back from the radiater. I do know some of the clutches are different length. Good Luck! Ronnie

There is no spacer with a clutch fan. The clutch takes the place of a spacer. A spacer is needed when you don't have a clutch and you would have a different fan blade.

The only 440+6 with a fan spacer would be a 3.23 geared automatic car. With a 22" radiator.
