I know they are making the E Body proportioning valves, but does anybody know if there are being any reproductions made of the 69 B Body drum/disc proportioning valves?

I need those for my 69 HEMI Charger but Im scared of using old crusty stuff!

Thanks

Domingo

There was a post recently about a member having brake issues that eventually were traced back to his new reproduction proportioning valve.. The internal clearance was to tight & the spool valve seized in the valve block.... Take your old valve apart & refurbish it...

Ohhhhh.....thats some good info there!!! I was about to order a few of those E Body units!!!! glad I didnt do so!!

But how do you refurbish those old units? Does anybody sell a service kit or something? When looking at my Factory service manual it says that the units are not serviceable and that you have to order a complete new unit. I wonder if somebdoyt sells servuce kits nowadays.

All thats inside is a spool valve, a spring & a couple "O"rings... Take it apart match up the "O"rings & Soda Blast the valve block....

And do the oring need to be of any special material? They will be in contact with brake fluid which is NASTY stuff. I doubt any O ring will survive in there?

Brake fluid is mild in the world of "O"rings.. It is basically Glycols..
Check the chart linked below..

Proportioning valves are brass - they clean up real nice in "Orange Cleaner" - just don't leave it in there too long. After that take it apart and clean it up. Easy!

There's a really good write-up over at FABO on doing just this. I recently used the info to redo mine. Here's a link: Link

Thanks a lot for all the info.

Yesds, I guess brake fluid cant be that bad on the origs given most fluid comes in a plastic container!

I bought a repo valve from inline tube and it made things worse. Rear wheels were locking up. Use the old one.

Yup, I am running into that problem now with the one in my 69 charger. The original one I got did not let the fluid back into the master cyl and caused the rear brakes to lock up. They sent me another one and that lasted a couple years before it is doing the same thing.

I guess its more money down the toilet for the set of 3 new valves I bought for my restoration. the link to the tutorial is excellent.
