PHOTOS here click on full screen upper left to see all.
Been a while..it's been a long summer.
getting back to work on my 1969 340 Swinger.
should be testing the engine in a day or 2.
description of the engine is in on the photo page.
any suggestions for spark plugs?
they look the same as the RB Indy head plug.
should be interesting to see some #'s

We didn't make it to Woodburn this year.
too many health issues to do much, next year should be better.

409 hp @ 6000 rpm needs more tuning and oil pressure over 100 psi @ end of Sweep
The test results are here

That's Annie's GTX I built it for her several years ago currently running a "500" 7.10's in the 1/8 not to bad for a heavy full interior car.
here is a better image of the car. yep that's Hippie Joe
or better known as the hippiepotamooose or something like that?
might give you all an idea of what I have to deal with

removed the oil pan / oil pump to check out the bypass valve and spring. no restriction or debris in the valve. the spring is blue for what ever that's worth. I removed the spring from the OEM pump to compare with the one from the new pump..
only one lb difference @ one inch? doesn't seem like enough difference but I'll install the one from the oem pump since is it the weaker of the 2.
Cut the oil filter apart, absolutely clean.
it won't be until tomorrow until it goes back together.

just got off the phone with Melling tec. he says the HV pump is not recommended in a stock engine as mine is {no work done to the oil passages}
will have a standard m72 in the morning to bolt in.
bigger isn't always better it seems

after installing the new oil pump along with a few other adjustments I put an hour of break in time on the engine.
It wasn't the best day for testing, trying to rain.
Peak HP 429
Tq 407
this was so much fun I'm supriesed its not illegal
these are the last 2 sweeps of 10.
once the engine started to repeat #'s I ran one slow sweep and one fast.
If the torque {and hp} stays the same or real close to it, the inertia setting is correct.
I wouldn't want to change a thing with these #'s More results here.
thanks for taking a look.

Looks good. Also looks like you're getting that dyno cell all squared away. I might want to bring a big block over there some time just to do some comparison testing. How much power are you set up for?

The place I go to right now has the same basic dyno but their water pump can only handle about 700 hp. So they need to upgrade to a bigger water pump to handle the more powerful motors.

yes it's slowly coming along, thanks
your welcome to set it up anytime.
it gets to be more of a pita once the weather turns colder since the water tank is above ground,
but still doable

Water tank is outside? It gets cold over there in central Oregon in the winter so that would put a crimp on the testing. The raw HP numbers go up a bunch in the cold weather though!

How do you guys like those Stuska dyno's?I researched all the popular dynos long before I bought my Superflow, and never figured out exactly how the Stuska worked.
Unless I'm mistaken, aren't they manually load control only?I am not trying to start a debate about dyno numbers,I just wondered how repeatable those are with manual loading?
Just hoping you guys could set me straight on Stuska's

The newer Studka are completely computer opertated just like the Supeflows and DTS are Andy is correct on the raw and corrected HP and torque, cold, dry weather with high barometric pressure lets you make a ton of power that is not acheivable in the spring, summer or fall Sorry for hijacking

You can get an optional automatic load control for a Stuska dyno from the factory. Or you can put the automatic setup from Depac on there.

The manual load control is repeatable if the dyno operator has some experience but automatic load control does make the process a bunch easier.
