There is a bolt that holds the power brake booster plunger to the brake petal arm. On this bolt there is a rubber O-ring. Why?

Pat there are no stupid Q's. It's there to (help)keep that special bolt/nut from coming undone w (potentially) catastrophic results, (The lawsuits from the death/injury from loseing the brakes)
