I have done that with my challenger. When you order your fuel cell make sure it has the provisons for a sending unit. the Ohms you need if dodge didn't change it would be empty 73-10ohms full. double check it with a ohm meter.

Looks like this however this one uses GM sender the ohms are o-90 not sure if you can get the mopar with it. Also if you get a fuel cell without the sender there is 2 different lengths they use just keep that in mind when you order.

So I just need to find a sending unit that is the same height as my fuel cell with the correct ohms for 0-full. I can easily cut a hole at the top of my current fuel cell to place it. It looks like pre 1989 Fords used the same type of sending unit (ohm wise): http://www.fordification.com/tech/fuel-sending-units.htmWould it be just as simple as to find one of those, adjust the length of the float arm to the depth of my cell and install it?
