My FSM (74 cuda) shows a spacer for the trans mount. I assume that the spacer goes between the trans and the mount.

Will the lack of this spacer mess up the drive line angles, causing an RPM driven vibration?

Thanks,

Jason

It may cause problems. The only way to know for sure is to measure the angles at both ends of the drive shaft, or you can just put in a spacer and find out. If the lack of spacer is the problem, it will show up by the time you reach highway speed. If you notice the vibration before reaching speed, slow down and remove the spacer. Go to a drivline shop and bite the bullet.

most times i have removed a tranz,it had them on the bolt against the mount then tranz

I allways thought it was cause the bolts are a little to long and it keeps it from bottoming out in the tranz mount holes..which are blind and can strip/crack the tail housing

never seen them between the tranz and mount flange

74 is the spool mount correct?

The square spacer is under the bolt head on my car.

Well, my mistake!

I have traditional washers under the bolts.

I guess it is ok then.

Any suggestions on what would cause an RPM driven vibration? I was thinking pinion angle or trans mount issues (its new but that does not seem to mean anything these days).

Jason
