Well, I purchased a 2001 300M - a good clean one owner car. It has 104,000 miles & one weird thing I noticed was the sound of a possibly blower motor that continually runs at low RPM while the key is on. Sounds like it is coming directly from behind the dash center vents. Turning the HVAC fan on & off makes no difference - it still runs. Anybody know what this is on the 1998-2004 LH models? I've driven a couple of others & neither one had this going on.

The fan always runs at low speed when main switch is anywhere but off, even if knob for fan is turned to lowest setting.

OK - should it make any noise though? I did not notice this on 2 others that I drove.

Also, after I get the car I will attempt to contact the original owner & see if he ever replaced the timing belt or the water pump. (How many hours to do the timing belt & water pump?)

I think the dealer HOSED the interior down with Armor All! I have to de-funk it!

I can hear mine run barely on a 2000 intrepid, and it has climate control. The belt along with water pump are not hard to do, once you remove all that plastic and sheetmetal pieces above radiator. The balancer-pulley on crank DOES NOT have to be removed, but the sheild behind it does. (10mm headed bolts back there along with a bunch of same holding belt covers to eng. 2 to 5 hour job depending on you.

Dan, I brought the car home today & cleaned it all up - it's a really nice one. I de-funked the interior of all the Armor All & now it feels much better inside. Going to get new CHRYSLER lettering stickers for the doors & trunk lid.

The dash fan thing is weird. When the car is just parked & not running & you open one of the doors, the fan will kick on & run for a couple minutes, then shut off. Also today, the climate control display (lights) were working fine. Then tonight we got in the car to drive back from dinner, & no display lighting. The HVAC module works fine, but the lights went out so you can't see the temp settings. I tried shutting the car off & restarting, we couldn't get any display lighting. Really wierd. Any ideas?

You could try a battery disconnect for 10 minutes or so. My dash lights once went completely out, and would not work again until car sat overnight then were fine since. I think the body computer, or some module in that car is a little squirrely.
