What can I say? Yupp....I have partied, got up in the morning and raced...After getting some food in my system...AJ competes on a different level than most of us. He admits he messed up...No matter. I will still continue to support the J&J Pro Stock team!!

Based on what is known - the timing and circumstances, I'd say it was a "fluke". I hope NHRA sees it the same way and doesn't come down any harder.

From Competionplus.com:
"Johnson is subject to further disciplinary action as provided for in NHRA's Substance Abuse Policy. (2010 NHRA Rule Book: Section 1.7)"

If .02 is ok where's the not ok? .03 .04 .05 the rule is the rule. What happens when someone wrecks into you and crashes your racecar. Are you going to accept anything but a 0 BA reading?

Im sorry, I cant be the sack swinger here, a person in that position weather a "burb" or call it what you will, he above all people should know the rules/limits.

If dinner was at 8 pm or 4 am it makes no difference...if it were not a mopar driver, most would post the same.

“I would just like to say I’m sorry,” Johnson offered. “Hopefully this won’t blow our championship chances and we will be back in Dallas. I’m human. I had 24 hours to go take the test and I went over there first thing this morning without anything to eat or drink. The remnants of last night came back. It wasn’t like I was drinking and driving.”

IS .01 OK?. What is Zero?

I don't care what was going on with the driver who crashes into my race car. Were they up all night, rebuilding the car, and sleepy. Were they sick with some bug and under the weather. Having some drinks is a choice and grant-it maybe a bad one when you have so much riding on it. But, many of the judgementals would see no problem rebuilding the car all night and racing tired. Ask any drunk what happened when they crash on the road. "I was not drunk I fell asleep".. Alcohol is a downer same difference. If you are sick you are down. Some would say but that was not a choice. Sure it is you have a $250,000 race car with someone else's $250,000 in the other lane. Sick or Sleepy is far more dangerous to everyone than a BAC of .027. Get some rest. If NHRA said we are going to hold you here until you are under what we consider Zero I would completely understand. I can't find the documentation to proove it but I think Zero is considered anything under .020. Allen failed the test irregaurdless. Just don't think he deserves the judments from his foes.

I have yet to meet anyone that is absolutely perfect. We all here make mistakes so cut the guy a break. He admitted what he did and he paid the price.

I agree Mike, but some are put in a position to be held to a higher standard, in sports, gov, ect.

None the less I dont see if he had a 24 hour window to test, why they couldnt just say come back in a couple hours or somthing.

Sucks for him, sucks for Mopar.

Can't believe he had a window that he could have went much later and didn't. Live and learn. Hope that is the end of it. At least the other drivers will learn that they mean business .

It`s easy for those to pass judgement cos you`re perfect and never mess up but whatever........He`s human, he went to eat and have a few drinks and unfortunately he paid a price as he wasn`t prepared and innocently thaught it was out of his system. I use to hang out w/attourneys and judges on wed. nights and guess what, the same people that prosocute you do the same damn things themselves. Called LIFE.....The night I got my dui I blew a .20 and was totally fine.........I remembered everything, passed all of the cordination tests, counting etc......even inverted the count and when the Sheriff said "just one more test" I knew I was doomed. Not proud.......actually stupid move on my behaf but life goes on and I don`t drink and drive EVER anymore. I`m bummed cos he`s the main reason I watch that crap called N.H.R.A...............

Tell my sister that works in the ER that. She's seen MUCH higher BACs than .27 and the patient was walking around (they were there because the police brought them in).

So Allen was drinking the night before and it just so happens he gets a "random" test the next day..THAT doesnt pass the smell test, imho.

Allen Johnson had no excuses.
DSA_0984
The Pro Stock driver readily admits he drank alcohol the night before a random drug test administered by a private firm for the NHRA.

Now, because he tested positive for alcohol, a .027 reading according to a statement issued by NHRA, he has been disqualified from any further participation at the NHRA O?Reilly Auto Parts Nationals at zMax Dragway in Concord, NC. Johnson is subject to further disciplinary action as provided for in NHRA's Substance Abuse Policy. (2010 NHRA Rule Book: Section 1.7)

?Who would have ever thought 11 hours after having drinks with dinner there would be a presence of alcohol in your system,? Johnson told Attitude?s CompetitionPlus.com moments after the NHRA handed down his disqualification. ?It just barely registered and the NHRA has a zero tolerance policy.?

?I understand it and we are supposed to be role models out here. I definitely feel bad about this. I wouldn?t have gone and had the test so early this morning if I would have believed it was detectable. It is what it is.?

Johnson forfeits the seventh spot in the qualified field and loses the two bonus points attained following the first session. NHRA notified Johnson and his team as they towed to the starting line for Saturday?s opening qualifying session.

Johnson confirmed he?s already been in contact with his sponsor, Mopar Performance, who had offered their driver support in the situation.

?Mopar knows we are a great role model for the kids and the other racers in the country,? Johnson said. ?I?m sure everyone involved goes out to dinner and has a cocktail or two, it?s unfortunate and Mopar stands behind us. They are our sponsor and something like this is an unfortunate incident.?

Johnson understands the magnitude of the situation and regrets it transpired.

?I would just like to say I?m sorry,? Johnson offered. ?Hopefully this won?t blow our championship chances and we will be back in Dallas. I?m human. I had 24 hours to go take the test and I went over there first thing this morning without anything to eat or drink. The remnants of last night came back. It wasn?t like I was drinking and driving.?

Mark, I do see your point. Hopefully his sponsors won`t dump him for this.

Leon tell some storys about us!!!!!!!!!!Please NO just picking!!!!!!I say Allen is just a race car driver. If it makes you that upset for him to have one more than he should, then get a new hero!!!!!People get a life.I learned a long time ago, people are still just people even if they have a camera on them.Maybe better spoken than say me or Leon but still a gear head at heart. That means drinking and chasing girls all night.

I love AJ....but he gets no sympathy from me on this one.

He's a professional....he has people who relate to what he does off and on the track. This probably was a fluke....it probably is explainable. But, when you do it for a living, and your in the goldfish bowl, you've got to be extra careful. You may not like it, it may not be fair, but that is the way it is. It comes with the job.

I doubt they do anything more to him....but, he knows better.
