Clean off all the contaminants from the trim and have at it.

What I am trying to say is that before I put the glass in, I need to put something in between the body and the glasson the primered channel so it correctly so the height/angle before so I can put the trim on to compare how it sits against the body. Trim will get polished & cleaned of course.

Just get some Home Depot/Lowes self-stick foam weatherstripping tape...comes in different thickness (find one similar to the glass tape/adhesive you'll use) and stick it to the glass before you lay it in. It is only sticky on one side so won't bother the primer.
Works perfect and still has a little give to it while you are working around the glass.
I like the idea for the self stick foam. Thanks.
