The spool is a great expense i could do without, why is a spacer not a viable option.

You want to go from a 4.56 to a 4.10?

No can do, if the spool you currently have doesn't have a spacer for the 4.56 gears. The 4.10 requires a different series spool/carrier than a 4.56 gear set.

Unless you get the special 4.10 gear set that is designed for the 4.56 carrier. It's got a thin ring gear.

Yes, They used to make a 4.10 gear set with a thin ring gear to use on the 4.56 carrier.

We went from 4.56's to 4.10's with a spool and did not need a spacer. Richmond makes a gear set that will fit (69-0052-1). Motor is alot happier and ET's were the same.

Thanks for the replies.
Last year i blew the motor, so i dont want this motor revving to the moon for longevity reasons.

What was the drop in rpm and what tyre size do you run.
How do i identify which axle carrier i have and is the thin ring gear weaker than a thicker one.

Unless the rear was built with a ring gear spacer, you have a 5 series carrier.

5 series 4.10 gears are not weaker than 3 series gears.
