I am going to look at a used 18 spline 4 speed tomorrow and would like your advice on what needs to be checked. It supposedly was rebuilt many years ago and then put in storage it was for a B body car which is what I am looking for.

Here is what I was going to check for starters broken ears or mounts, doesn't turn easy or smooth, broken gears, broken tail housing, rust, twisted or bad input spline, cut input shaft.

What about wear items what need to be checked, gears or syncro's.

iirc the teeth on the synchros should be square not slanted like the roof on a house.
