my brother is finishing a super b with a 440 and insists on staying with points. Does anyone know the points gap?

Point gap does not have to be set to (published) specs. You can set it anywhere. The smallest gap will give the longest dwell which'll give the hottest spark (more time for coil saturation) but make the points burn up faster cause they're closed longer so more time for current to pass & eventually burn them so granny would want a short dwell time and a hot rodder the opposite. Could even start w a .010" gap & if it'll start it'll give him the hottest spark. No start bump it up to .012".

Keep in mind..
That as the rubbing block wears, the gap decreases..
Thats why it is best to set them on the wider(higher) side to start with.

Just my $0.02..

I am like your bro,run points on all of mine

but then again,a pertronix points conversion will be an upgrade and still retain the better vac advance curve a points dizzy has over a smogger elect dizzy

old skool can still be made to work in todays world :whistling

just not as bling IMO

I gut a stock BR and use a strand #10 wire solderd in to by pass the BR to give the pertronix a full 12 volts with their 40,000 volt flame thrower coil

very covert unless you know what to look for
