I removed my old one...Carter...it works...but I want to keep it as a spare and don't want to varnish the inside of it. Is there anything I can pour into it to "cleanse it" so I can put it in a box in case I need it in the future?

Waterman Racing Fuel Pumps ships there fuel pumps with a small bottle of silicone fluid used to store it with.
I'd go with WD 40 and plug the openings.

I would watch out for WD-40 sometimes it does not play well with rubber. I have see it swell rubber o rings and gaskets.
I would think if it is drained completely you would be OK maybe run some Sta-bil fuel stabilizer through it.

Cool...I'll drain it out.....Blow some compressed air through it...blow some carb spray through...Blow it out again...and drip some sta-bil into it and cap off the ports.

Thanks

NOO!!! DO not blow air through it!!!! they have rubber diaphrams in them that could rupture under the high air pressure of an air compressor. I'd do everything BUT blow compressed air through it.
