No, it's not what some of you thought. OK, what most of you thought. I'm talking about fan directions. I am working on installing a B&M trans cooler and they are saying it is set up to be a suction fan (draw air thru the cooler). I have a Be Cool radiator w/ twin fans mounted on the engine side. I originally planned on mounting the cooler in front of the radiator and pushing the air into the radiator. It seems to me that having them opposing one another would cause some loss of efficiency. Not to mention the headache of finding someplace else to mount it if I reverse the cooler and have the fan on the inside. So what are you folks doing?? Should I just reverse the polarity and push all the air thru the rad or try to locate it so that it can work the way that the manufacturer wants it?? Thanks for your time, Paul.

Fans are best used a puller, but I've seen plenty of them set up as pushers. If it works best for you installing it as a pusher, and keeps the car cool, should be no problem. If not it's a easy thing to change.

I would think with a trans cooler with a fan you could mount it anywhere that air would flow through it . If you were to mount it in front of the radiator , mount it so the fan flows with the other fans not pulling the air away.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

Thanks for the responses. My thought is that without a fan on the trans cooler the heat is drawn through the radiator by the fan when the cooler is mounted in front. All the fan on the cooler will do is move more air through the radiator. Same amount of heat going through.

If your worried about the extra heat just mount it some place else. I've seem them mounted as far back as the rear end, many next to the transmission.
