Remove both inner and outter trim. You can buy this specially braided brass wire from any auto parts store. It's NOT guitar or piano wire. It's 3 braided brass wires that cuts great and can't hurt the glass.

The whole tool costs 39 bucks which is very handy or you can buy the wire separate.
The flat T handle tool pushes the brass wire through the window gasket/sealant without danger of cracking the glass.

I have cut out both front and back windows on 3 challengers by myself and have not even come close to breaking any glass. There's no better way to do it on a challenger or cuda. Anyone can do it with no skill.

Try the wire someday, I bet I can run that wire around the outside of a windsheild faster than a hot knife could cut thru. Twice as fast I bet.

Does it take two people? one in and one on the out side? or does the wire cut across the whole span? What's the best method of cleaning off the adhesive?, body and glass

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

Good question....Oh and there's no doubt the wire would be faster...

I cut the window out by myself, it did help to have a second person simply give a little push to start it out of the channel..
I used the 90 deg angle blade with a cable and handle to cut the sealer...
To remove the sealer from the glass, I used laquer thinner and glass cleaner.
If you are not going to paint the car , better stay away from laquer thinner on the channel and use something like paint reducer..., after you clean as much as possible with a scraper and 3M cleaning wheel.

Wear safety goggles (eye protection) when removing a back glass . Seriously, I was removing the back glass from my orange six pack Challenger
years ago, almost had it out, and it EXPLODED in my face. It didn't crack like a front windshield, it exploded into 10,000 pieces. Keep that in mind and be careful and take your time.

First thing I usually do is cut out the outside butyl around the glass with a razor knife, pull it out then all you have to deal with is whats between the glass and frame. I use the L shaped cutting tool and have only broken 1 rear glass, but im sure it was destined to break as it had been sitting for many years in the sun and as soon as I started it shattered.

416 stroker from Nick at Compu-flow. 11.14 in full street trim. Seems like a new best every time out.
11.06 open headers----so far!!

Sure 2 people makes it easier, but like I said. I have done it 6 times by myself, it's not a big deal. With wire there no chance of the glass cracking, none.
Once the trim is off the car I can do it in a couple minutes, 5 at most by myself.
